Beard Transplant

What is Beard Transplant?

Beard transplant, also knowns as facial hair transplantation, has become a popular procedure in recent years. Turkey has emerged as a leading destination for beard transplants. The country’s well established medical tourism industry, affordable prices, and experienced surgeons have contributed to this growth.

A beard transplant procedure is a cosmetic procedure. It involves transferring hair follicles from the donor area (usually the back of the scalp) to the facial area. The aim is to create or enhance a beard.

This procedure is ideal for those who have difficulty growing hair. It can also be used to improve the density and shape of an existing beard.

There are two popular beard hair transplant techniques. These techniques are; Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) to ensure natural looking results.

The Process

  1. Consultation: Discuss your goals and expectations with the surgeon. The surgeon will evaluate your facial hair growth and donor areas to determine the best approach.

  2. Preparation: The donor and recipient areas are cleaned and prepared for the procedure. Local anesthesia is applied to minimize discomfort.

  3. Extraction: Hair follicles are carefully extracted from the donor site using the chosen technique (FUE or DHI).

  4. Preparation of grafts: The extracted follicles are sorted and prepared for transplantation.

  5. Implantation: Beard implantation must be done with great attention. Hair follicles are carefully implanted into the recipient area. The hair grafts are planted at the appropriate angle, direction, and density to ensure a natural looking result.

  6. Recovery: The transplanted area may be covered with a protective dressing. Then the post operative care instructions will be provided. Recovery time varies, but most patients can resume normal activities within a week.

  7. Results: New beard growth should begin within 3-4 months, with the final results visible after 9-12 months.
