Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant

What is a Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant?

The Sapphire FUE technique has become the most preferred technique in hair transplantation for several reasons. The Sapphire FUE technique has a success rate of up to 99% because it maintains tissue integrity and reduces infections resulting from transplantation. It is considered the best and most appropriate option for men’s hair transplantation, for beard and chin transplantation.

The Sapphire FUE technique is known as “hair follicle unit extraction”. In it, hair follicles are harvested one by one from the donor area to the recipient area or to be transplanted using a sapphire stone scalpel.

It is worth noting the importance of choosing the treating physician and the medical center where you will perform this procedure because if you choose well, you will have a wonderful experience and distinctive results. If you do not choose well, you will suffer severe consequences because hair transplantation is a very delicate cosmetic procedure.

Pre-Procedure for FUE Hair Transplant

During the consultation between the patient and the medical consultant, a few essential tips are given to the patient to ensure the procedure’s success. More importantly, to avoid side effects. These tips are as follows

  • Quit smoking for at least two weeks before the hair transplant procedure. Since smoking negatively affects hair follicle growth.

  • Refrain from drinking alcohol for at least a week before the procedure because it negatively affects anesthesia.

  • Refrain from drinking natural blood thinners such as green tea since they cause severe bleeding during and after the procedure, which leads to hair transplant failure.

  • Refrain from drinking stimulants such as coffee for at least four days before the hair transplant procedure; it affects the anesthesia process.

  • Ensure maintaining a healthy and balanced diet to avoid complications.

  • Stop taking medicines that cause blood dilution, such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen combinations.

  • If you are under certain medications, you must consult your doctor as they must approve the hair transplant procedure. Also, you must inform the plastic surgeon about your health conditions and history before proceeding.

Stage of Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant

1- Hair and Scalp Examination

It is the first step in hair transplantation and is very important. The surgeon can determine which follicles will be extracted for re-implantation during this examination. In this step, the surgeon carefully examines the hair using a specialized device to understand its condition better. Through it, the quality and density of hair in the donor area, the rate of hair loss, and the number of grafts to be transferred from the donor area to the place to be treated are determined.

2- Determining the shape of the hair

After this, the surgeon will draw the hairline. This stage is essential to get natural-looking results. The patient must be aware of the final look, which must be confirmed in line with the patient.

3- Shaving Hair

The whole head is shaved to extract grafts from the donor areas and implant them into the recipient area.

4- Local Anesthesia and Transplantation

The surgeon will apply local anesthesia to the donor and the recipient areas. The surgeon uses a micromotor to extract the follicles individually and preserve them in a serum to keep them healthy until they get implanted.

5- The stage of Hair Transplant

The surgeon opens the corresponding channel to the exit angle to carefully insert the grafts from the donor area. The transplant of the harvested grafts starts by inserting the grafts in the opened channels of the recipient area.

What Should You Expect After FUE Hair Transplant?

The period just after the hair transplant surgery is essential, and the patients should know what they should expect. The process after the transplantation is as follows:

  • After the operation, crusting occurs on the scalp, and after five or six days, this crust starts shedding.

  • Within 15-21 days after the Sapphire FUE hair transplant, the temporary shock period, known as shock loss, begins. The transplanted hair will start to shed, and that is normal. This is a sign of the success of the procedure.

  • After three months, the hair follicles will start to grow.
